Some vehicles should never be dragged

A flatbed carries the whole vehicle instead of towing half of it — and for a lot of vehicles, that is the only correct answer.

All-wheel drives cannot be towed with two wheels rolling — the drivetrain objects, expensively. Most electric vehicles cannot be flat-towed at all; the motors are geared to the wheels, so an EV that ran out of charge goes on the deck and rides to a charger. Lowered cars scrape on wheel-lift angles a flatbed never asks of them. Classics and project cars deserve better than a hook, and a vehicle stuck in park or leaking what it needs to survive should not roll another foot.

The answer to all of it is the same: all four wheels off the ground, the vehicle strapped to the deck, nothing turning that should not turn. When you call, mention anything unusual — all-wheel drive, lowered, will not shift into neutral — so the truck arrives set up for it, not surprised by it.

Motorcycles and side-by-sides, done right

Bikes are where careless towing does its most visible damage. Ours ride in a wheel chock with soft straps to the bars and frame — never chained down by the frame — so the suspension takes the road and the paint stays where the factory put it. Tell dispatch the make and model and whether it still rolls; a bike with a seized wheel loads differently, and knowing beforehand keeps it a clean job.

Side-by-sides and ATVs come home the same way: on the deck, strapped properly, whether the ride ended at a trailhead or somewhere well past one. If it is still out in the hills rather than beside a road, that is a recovery first and a ride home second — one call covers both halves.
